Tournament rackets to comfort rackets – here you will find top brands in your category

Today, tennis rackets are without exception made of high-tech plastics; the time of legendary wooden rackets has been over for decades. The materials used are primarily graphite, Kevlar, fiberglass and of course carbon. In terms of design, racket models with an “open heart” have become established, which means that under the oval racket head the frame unites in two strands towards the handle to form a shaft.

The tennis rackets available for you in our shop are divided into four main categories. You can also search for tennis racket brands, where the rackets are divided into categories. The main categories are:

All-round racket (for the club player without competitive ambitions) Tournament rackets (sporty rackets for dynamic players) Comfort racket (for players who want to have arm-friendly fun) Child bully (for our junior tennis players)

Many people have favorite brands when choosing their sports equipment. If you would like to browse through your favorite tennis brand, we have the following brands on offer for you:

HEAD Wilson Babolat Yonex Dunlop Pacific Tecnifibre

No matter which tennis racket your heart beats for, you can of course receive it from us strung according to your ideas upon request. Some of the rackets are already strung at the factory. However, it is advisable to replace the initial stringing with a new stringing after some time, which we of course also offer you as one of our services.

What you need to know about tennis rackets for your selection

Every premium tennis racket at Tennis-Point is characterized by a specific mix of features and details. Most manufacturers have these marked on the frame, so even years later you can always see immediately what “values” your racket has and what you should pay attention to, for example if you want to improve your game and buy a new tennis racket. Here we give you a brief overview of the features of a racket and explain what the individual names mean.

The club length

The basic features of tennis rackets are prescribed by the World Tennis Association and are therefore binding for manufacturers as a framework - including the length of the racket. It is a maximum of 73.7 centimeters, but rackets of this size are almost impossible to play with control. The actual racket length used worldwide is 680 to 690 millimeters. Longer models create more leverage and increase reach. While shorter rackets are easier to handle and are more suitable for beginners and slightly advanced players.

The club head

The size of the clubhead changes the precision you need to have to hit a well-placed ball. The following rule of thumb applies: larger club head areas are more forgiving, a smaller head accelerates better. Professionals generally have tennis rackets in their bags that have the smallest racket head areas available. If you are just starting out with tennis, you are better off with a larger racket head. The average size of all tennis rackets available is 645 cm2 (or 100 inches).

Among the rackets in our shop you will find tennis rackets with the following racket head dimensions:

Midsize: (professional rackets) 600-625 cm2 Midplus: (standard racket) 626-660 cm2 Oversize: (comfort racket) 661-700 cm2 Super Oversize: > 700 cm2

The racket weight

The weight of the racket is crucial to the swing power and precision with which you hit. Professionals prefer heavy frames because they are trained accordingly and need maximum acceleration of the ball for their game. Beginners, on the other hand, find it much easier with lighter rackets because they offer much better handling. Tournament rackets for above-average players weigh well over 300 grams and require precise technique and well-trained arms and shoulders. Club players usually aim for a racket weight of 300 grams, while rackets for beginners should weigh between 260 and 290 grams. There are also lighter rackets, but they are more recommended for children and teenagers. When it comes to racket weight, it should be noted that the manufacturer's information basically describes rackets without strings. For conventional tennis strings, around 15 grams are added to the pure racket weight.

The bat handle

Tennis rackets are generally offered in five grip sizes (which describes the “thickness” of the handle). Racket manufacturers have agreed on five standardized strengths, ranging from L1 (very narrow grip) to L5 (for lumberjack hands). You can determine your ideal grip strength by gripping the lower end of the handle of the racket with your hitting hand. The index finger should now fit between the heel of the hand and the fingertips. But what is most important is a comfortable feel when gripping your tennis racket. There are many players who tend to use a slightly smaller grip because they can then maneuver the racket better.

The balance of the racket

And then there is the balance point of a tennis racket. It provides information about whether the racket is balanced, handle-heavy or head-heavy. Top-heavy means that the balls are accelerated better and, above all, overturned (topspin) shots are easier to hit. If the racket is handle-heavy, you have more control when hitting. Most tournament or professional players choose such a racket because they have high swing speed even without the support of their racket. With an average racket length of 68 centimeters, a balanced balance point would be 32 centimeters. If the balance point is less than 32 centimeters, we are talking about a handle-heavy racket. If it is over 33 centimeters, we call this racket top-heavy.

The string pattern of the racket

The stringing pattern influences how easily or less easily the racket imparts forward or backward spin to the ball (as long as the hitting movement is correct). Most tennis rackets are available in the 18 x 20 pattern. But since tennis is getting faster and faster, the 16 x 19 string pattern is becoming increasingly popular. The greater distance between the strings that is created means that there is still enough spin on the ball even when shots are played very quickly. The rule of thumb is: the greater the distance between the strings, the deeper the individual strings penetrate into the ball. A large-mesh string pattern supports cuts with cuts such as topspin or slice. If the distances are smaller, the strings don't penetrate as deeply. This means more control and less impact on the swing arm. A small aside should be mentioned: the tighter stringing variant allows the strings to last longer, while the “spin-friendly” 16 x 19 stringing type causes more string wear.
